Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators Pays Courtesy Visit to Industrial Court

A delegation from the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators paid a courtesy visit to the President of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, His Lordship, Hon. Justice Benedict Kanyip, PhD, FNIALS on Thursday 12th March 2020 where they discussed opportunities for collaboration on capacity-building for staff.

Led by Institute President, Chief Emeka Obegolu expressed that the visit was part of the efforts aimed at boosting relationship with the Judiciary in Nigeria and the proposed synergy would also go a long way in realizing one of the new administration's key concerns.

The ICMC, it would be recalled, was established in 1999 with the mandate to regulate the practice of mediation, train prospective candidates, as well as encourage organizations and institutions to adopt Mediation and Conciliation as the primary mechanisms for addressing disputes.

In his remark, Hon. President of the Court, His Lordship, Hon. Justice Benedict Kanyip, PhD, FNIALS appreciated the visit and assured that the Court would continue to partner with them on staff training.

Other eminent Judges present at the gathering were Hon. Justice E. N. Agbakoba, Hon. Justice R. B. Haastrup and Hon. Justice P. A. Bassi.

Others are the Chief Registrar, Mr. O. W. Daudu and the acting Director, NICN-Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre, Mrs Mubarakah Abd-Rasheed.
