His Lordship, Hon. Justice Rabiu Gwandu was born in Sokoto, Sokoto State but hails from Kebbi State, Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area.
My Lord attended the Capital School, Sokoto for Primary School Education and later attended Women Arabic Teachers College at Gusau, Zamfara State and proceeded to Usman DanFodio University, Sokoto for Bachelor Degree in Law.
Justice Gwandu was called to Bar in 1991 after attending the Premier Nigerian Law School Lagos Centre.
His Lordship did her National Youth Service Corp Scheme at the Ministry of Justice, Ogun State but later redeployed to the Sokoto State Investment Company, Sokoto.
Succinctly, Justice Gwandu started her legal career with the Sokoto State Ministry of Justice in 1992 and rose through the ranks to become Acting Deputy Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
Furthermore, between 1997 and 1999, she became the Chief Adviser on Legal Matters at the Family Economic Advancement Programme, Abuja.
In 1999, My Lord joined the service of M-Tel as Assistant Manager (Legal) with NITEL and in 2004 she thereafter joined the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency in the same capacity as Legal Adviser.
Between 2010 and May 2013, she was the Assistant Director (Administration) at the Nigerian Law Reform Commission, Abuja, from where she was appointed Judge of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria and sworn in by the then Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Aloma Muktar.
My Lord is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, Abuja Branch and has traveled widely.
