JUST IN: Industrial Court Orders Fed. Univeristy Lokoja, Suspended Staff to Maintain Status Quo pending Determination of Motion on Notice

Abuja – His Lordship, Hon. Justice Olufunke Anuwe of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Sitting in Abuja has ordered Suspended Staff of Federal University Lokoja, Prof. Gbenga Ibileye, Chief B. Y. Aina and the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lokoja and three others to maintain status quo pending the hearing and determination of the motion of Notice.

 

The Counsel to Prof. Ibileye and Chief Aina, F. I. Ibude Esq sought for an order of interim injunction restraining the Institution either by themselves or through their agents from acting or threatening to act or interfere in any way detrimental to the claimant in the discharge of their duties as staff of the University pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

 

Delivering ruling on the Exparte motion, the Presiding Judge, Hon. Justice Olufunke Anuwe held that the prayer contained on the face of the motion cannot be granted at this stage since the claimants have already been suspended, ordered that the Motion on Notice be set down for hearing before the substantive judge at the Lokoja Judicial division.
