For many who have been in contact with his Lordship or might have appeared before her presiding over matters, one thing remains sacrosanct that, she is a fearless and erudite jurist of distinction.

 

His Lordship, Hon. Justice O. O. Oyewumi was born in Accra, Ghana to the family of late Oyeleke Ibrahim Akano from Ogbomosho in Ogbomosho North LGA of Oyo State. Her Late mother Limota Ajeley Akano hailed from Accra.

 

My Lord attended Anglican Primary School, Ogbomosho for First School Leaving Certificate, thereafter proceeded to Baptist High School, Ogbomosho for West Africa School Certificate.

 

In a bid to satisfy her craving for knowledge, University of Lagos found her worthy in Character and Learning, awarded her LLB, thereafter attended Nigerian Law School Lagos and was called to bar in 1990.

 

In furtherance with her passion and commitment for knowledge-excellence, My Lord obtained Masters of Law [LLM] from the Premier University, University of Ibadan. She also holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Legislative Drafting and a Certificate in Industrial Relations from the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies Akoka, Lagos State.

 

Justice Oyewumi performed her mandatory NYSC primary assignment with the defunct Savannah Bank, Ilorin, Kwara State, North Central Nigeria.

 

My Lord started her legal career with Olujinmi and Akeredolu and Co, Law Firm, Ibadan as a Legal Pupil and later joined Oyo State Ministry of Justice, Ibadan as Senior Legal Officer and rose to the post of Director, Legal Services, State House of Assembly.

 

Quintessentially, Justice Oyewumi served as Chief Magistrate I in the FCT Judiciary before her appointment to the Bench of National Industrial Court of Nigeria in the 2013 and was sworn-in by the then Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Aloma Muktar.

 

Justice Oyewumi is a member of many Legal Profession bodies like NBA, IBA, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators UK and others.

 

His Lordship is happily married and blessed with Children.
