His Lordship, Hon. Justice Dele Peters was born in the Largest City in Africa, Ibadan, Oyo State to the family of late Alade Peters and Rachael Abike Peters both from Oke Oro Ekiti, in Ijero Local Government Area, Ekiti State, South West, Nigeria.
My Lord attended St Michaels Primary School, Yemetu, Adeoyo, Ibadan for First School Leaving Certificate; followed by Liberty Academy, Ibadan for West African School Certificate.
From inception, My Lord showed total passion for education beyond expression admitted at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria for LL. B (Hons.) and was called to bar in 1988.
In furtherance of His Lordship commitment and zeal to be acquainted with the Law, My Lord obtained Master of Laws Degree (LLM) from the prestigious University of Lagos in 1991.
Justice Peters performed compulsory NYSC primary assignment at the Faculty of Law, Lagos State University, Ojo in the 1988/89 service year. His Lordship started his legal career with a private legal firm, Toyin Ajibogere and Associates, Ikeja, Lagos State where he cut his teeth, involved in litigation and other Solicitor's work between 1989 and 1996.
Furthermore, Hon. Justice Peters joined the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies University of Lagos Campus, Akoka, Lagos in 1996 as a Research Fellow 1 from where he rose to the position of Senior Research Fellow and Head, Department of Public & Private Law.
From 2005 to 2006, My Lord was the Research Assistant to the then Chief Justice of Nigeria, His Lordship, Hon. Justice Muhammad Lawal Uwais.
Between 2007 to 2013, My Lord worked at the National Judicial Institute, Abuja where he was, at different times, Deputy Director of Research, Director of Research and Director of Studies from where he was appointed to the Bench as a Judge of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria in 2013 and was sworn-in by the then Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar.
In recognition of His Lordship contribution to the body of knowledge, Hon. Justice Peters has authored many books - Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in Nigeria: Principles and Practice, Dee Sage Nigeria Limited, 2005; MEDIATION - a practice guide, Dee Sage Nigeria Limited, 2005; What is Alternative Dispute Resolution?, Dee Sage Nigeria Limited, 2006 and Arbitration & Conciliation Act Companion (Including Customary Arbitration) with Cases from 1958-2005; Dee Sage Nigeria Limited, 2006 just to list few.
His lordship has attended several seminars and workshops and is a member of some professional bodies.
Presently, My Lord, Hon. Justice J. D. Peters is currently the presiding Judge of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Ibadan Judicial division, happily married and blessed with children.
