Generally, capacity building is needed to bring an organization to the next level of operational, programmatic, organizational maturity, and to effectively and efficiently advance its mission into the future.
Based on the above, the Ekiti State Ministry of Justice Academy, Attorney-Generals’ Colloquium organized 2019 May edition which centered on how to become a Judge of the National Industrial Court.
The programme was held at Delight hotel, Ilawe road, Ado-Ekiti, the state capital on Thursday 9th May 2019.
The guest speaker, the President of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, His Lordship, Hon. Justice B. A. Adejumo, OFR lectured the participants how the journey of the court started, the present status and the requirements required from the applicant’s who applied to become a Judge at the Court.
All questions bordering on the subjects matter were fully discussed and analyzed to the hopeful of the participants.
His Lordship reiterated the commitment of the court as specialized superior court of record in setting standards for management and labour jurisprudence, promoting industrial harmony; and also to contribute to the overall development of the country to dispense justice without any fear nor favour in a timely manner so that the beneficiary of the judgment can live to enjoy his/her struggle.
His Lordship recapitulated the neutrality of the court on the ongoing judges' recruitment and strongly opined that any applicant with Medical deficiency, Dearth of Labour Law; insufficient knowledge of Laws of the Land, criminal record from the background check will never scale through the screening.
He advised the Bar in Ekiti and the country, in general, to continue to mentor lawyers like what the Ekiti state attorney general has put in place.

Justice Adejumo stressed the need for continuation of this lofty idea established by the state chief law officer, that the result, in the long run, would place Ekiti on top of other states in the federation, that tutoring and clinical study of Law, not abstract being taught in the institution is needed for the growth of our judicial system.
Also in her remark, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost college of Law, Afe Babalola University, Prof. Smaranda Olarinde also contributed to the discussion and expressed that the great citadel of learning ABUAD have seen the future of Labour Jurisprudence and Industrial Court, that for the past many years they have introduced and compulsory labour law into their curriculum so as to align the Law faculty to the global trend.
The organizer, State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Olawale Fapohunda Esq showed appreciated to all the invited guests and the speaker for doing justice to the topic without any form bias, he used the occasion to enunciated the commitment of the state governor, his Excellency, Gov. Kayode Fayemi to restore the values of the state.
Lastly, Professor of Law, Ekiti State University, the chairman governing board, Ekiti State Ministry of Justice Academy, Prof. I. O. Babatunde delivered the vote of thanks.
The lecture witnessed the presence of members of the Bar, principal officers of the industrial court led by the chief registrar, Mr. Olurotimi Daudu Esq; civil societies, law students and the general public.
