2017 NCMG Intl. Peace Award: Hon. Justice Babatunde Adejumo OFR gets nomination

The Negotiation and Conflict Management Group (NCMG) international has nominated the president of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Babatunde Adejumo as one of its nominees for the JUSTICE BUILDER award 2017.


Others who were nominated in the category are Hon. Justice Zainab Bulkachukwa, President of the court of Appeal; Hon. Justice Joseph Oyewole and Rev. Fr. Ambrose.


NCMG an independent, not-for-profit, non-governmental organization committed to the promotion of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Mechanisms as the default means of conflict management. The organization that was incorporated in Nigeria in 1996 translated due to global demands and opportunities into an international brand with major focus on promoting and advocating for world peace and conflict management within the Africa continent; the NCMG thus became NCMG International as approved by its Board of Governors with its Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland in 2012.


Since its establishment and repositioning, the NCMG International has been on the vanguard of ADR development in Africa, and continues to advance the frontiers of this relatively new industry through collaboration and partnership with relevant institutions across Europe, America and the African continent. For the past 20 years, we have been at the forefront of capacity development and innovation in Africa through constructive engagements, judicial reform, cultural orientation and sustained proliferation of ADR practices.

This award recognizes and honors an individual, organization or institution who demonstrates that access to justice should offer a variety of approaches and options for dispute resolution within the judicial system.


These initiatives also shape new and humane approach to equitable justice in Africa while defending and upholding the rights of those at the bottom rung of the economic pyramid in order to pull humanity out of the mud of violence, war and conflict.

The nomination of Hon. Justice Babatunde Adejumo OFR for the JUSTICE BUILDER award clearly confirms his foresight, dedication and sacrifice to the judiciary development in Nigeria and Africa beyond.

National Industrial Court of Nigeria under the care of his Lordship, Hon. Justice Babatunde Adejumo OFR has become court of many first. The establishment of ADR Centre on labour issues by the court which is first in Africa and maintaining of a clear lead in legal-technological revolutions that promotes ease access to justice.

Today, His Lordship resilience efforts which have turned the National Industrial Court of Nigeria from what was derisively called a “dead end” into a living end flowing and basking in the waters of continued reformation.

The peace award dinner has been scheduled for Wednesday November 1st 2017 at Oriental Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos State, Nigeria.
