The Chief Registrar of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Olurotimi Williams has joined other principal officers to congratulate the winners for the just concluded cooperative society election that was held yesterday across all divisions. The chairman of the electoral committee Mr FRiday O. Osunde announced and declared Odey Simeon as President, Patience Wright as Vice-President, Rotimi Audu as PRO.
Others winners are Audu Rasheed as Financial Secretary, Ogunlakin Bukola as Treasurer and Ameen Olawale as Assistance General Secretary.
Oshibogun Olakunle was declared unopposed as General Secretary.
The chief registrar statement reads:
“Wow! I am glad that elections into various offices in the Cooperative Society of the National Industrial Court successfully held yesterday. From reports reaching me, the turn-out was massive at all the polling centres in all the judicial divisions. It was free, fair and credible going by the feedbacks. Of utmost interest is the fact that I have read statements issued by some of those that lost out congratulating eventual winners. What a display of sportsmanship!
“When I muted the idea of holding elections, some were quick to remind me it was impossible because there had been no such elections in the last 13 years when the Society was formed. But I was not deterred. I was particularly encouraged because of the support I received from the management staff, especially, the directors.
“There were sundry consultations particularly with members of the outgoing Exco. I pressed on these officers the need to conduct a free, fair and credible election as a legacy they should bequaeth to us. They gave me their commitments as a group and individually as well. As we progressed, the process became bumpy and laced with anomalies. The irregularities were promptly addressed with utmost civility and candour. Even when there were reasons for me to lose my cool, I remained calm and refused to be provoked. In all, the level of participation and enthusiasm displayed by members of the Cooperative Society was exemplary. Finally, we have berthed a new Exco.
“I must say a big thank you to members of the outgoing Exco for their services. They have done well. In particular, I thank them for demonstrating true leadership by allowing the electoral process to run its course. Kudos to the generality of the staff for believing in us. To the newly elected Exco, we are eagerly waiting for the change of mantle. I trust that you will take the Society to the next level. You must priotize the interest and well-being of members. It is impossible to find enough words to thank all the directors. Many thanks to our Judges for all the support.
“To our father, the Hon President, I thank you for your purposeful leadership. Thank you for your guidance and inspiration at all times.”
In the same vein, head of admin, Aremo Olanrewaju also declared that no victor no vanquished. He expressed satisfaction that all contestants are worthy to be elected both in character and competence, luckily; one person will surely raise the flag. He described the result as victory for all. He enjoined others to team up and work closely with one another for the progress of the society.
The Auditor, Alhaji Bello in his remark thanked the electoral committee for providing a level playing ground for the free, fair and credible elections. He further expressed that cooperative society members have spoken with their votes, urged the elected leaders to live up to the yearning of their members.
