2018 NJI Induction Course: Justice Dele Peters Delivers Lecture on “Time and CaseFlow Management”

1075 Tuesday 26th June 2018

It has become increasingly clear that courts across the globe must do more to better organize and manage their caseload with time. In response to this need, case-flow management has emerged to become the central method of promoting greater court responsibility and accountability for efficient case processing. For over thirty years court case management concepts have evolved, spreading to other industrialized common law countries. Yet, for many judicial systems, the concept, techniques, and supporting systems of caseflow management are still relatively new ideas that need to be more fully understood.

Sequel to this, His Lordship, Hon. Justice Dele Peters, Judge, National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Lagos division was the guest speaker at the 2018 National Judicial Council Induction course for Judges and kadis holding at Andrews Otutu Obaseki Auditorium, Abuja.

His Lordship spoke on “Application of Time and Case-flow Management Standard” chaired by Hon. Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour, CFR, Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

While delivering lecture, His Lordship stated that time and caseflow management is not just for the benefit of the system but also and more importantly for our benefit. Failure to manage our time and cases in our docket may result in our inability to meet the monthly and quarterly returns and cases to the National Judicial Council as the fear of National Judicial Council is the beginning of wisdom.

His Lordship further thanked the administrator of NJI for the invitation to be part of the program and also commended the effort of the Director of studies, Hajia Titi Kawu and the entire staff for keeping the flag of the institute flying.

The session was well attended by many judges and kadis across the federation, among whom were Judges of National Industrial Court of Nigeria.
