President of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Hon. Justice B. A. Adejumo, OFR who was ably represented by Hon. Justice Sanusi Kado led delegation of National Industrial Court of Nigeria to attend the FIDAU prayer for the Late Justice Mustapha Adebayo Akanbi, CFR, who left to the great beyond on the 3rd day of June 2018 at the age of 85 years.
The fidau prayer held today Sunday 10th of June 2018 at Metropolitan Square, Asa-Dam road Ilorin, Kwara State capital.
The event witnessed the presence of eminent jurists, elder-statemen across globe, captain of industries, Islamic scholars, judicial officers, family, relatives and sympathiser from all walks of life to name a few.
Justice Kado while delivering his speech expressed that he was deeply pained by the demise of late Justice (Baba)Akanbi, as we fondly called him.
His Lordship said “The news of the demise of late Justice Akanbi, came to me as a rude shock. But, there is nothing one can do. I cannot question God, He is the giver and taker of life, He takes it at the appointed time.
“I am personally pained by the demise of late Justice (Baba)Akanbi, as we fondly called him. He took me as his son when I first got to know him in year 2001 while on posted from Federal Ministry of Justice to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, (ICPC), to serve under him as one of the pioneer prosecutors of the Commission.
“Late Honourable Justice Mustapha Adebayo Akanbi, CFR epitomises hard work, humility, uprightness, credibility, integrity and incorruptibility. Late Justice Akanbi, distinguished himself as a judicial officer and corruption fighter.
“We will miss him for his courage and fearlessness in speaking the truth at all times.
“Having worked with him for over four years, I can attest to his courage and zeal in stamping out corruption that has been a cankerworm in the society.
“Late Justice Akanbi, has come and gone, but his legacies will remain with us for decades to come. He has made indelible marks in the fight against corruption and service to humanity. His positive impact in the society has made him a role model.
Justice Sanusi kado also used the avenue to pray for the repose of the soul of late Justice Akanbi, May Almighty Allah (SWT) name him among his favoured servants and grant him Aljannatul Firdausi and grant his entire family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Among the delegation of Industrial court were Chief Registrar, Olurotimi Daudu; Aremo Olanrewaju- Head Admin, Alhaji, Bello Abdulrafiu-Director Audit and Head of Division Akure-Lawal Tawakalitu and others.
