Justices Esowe, Targema, Galadima, others attend UN Migration capacity workshop

The Honourable Judges of the National Industrial Court, their Lordships, Hon. Justices, M. N. Esowe, Hon. Justice J. I. Targema and Hon. Justice I. S. Galadima today Wednesday 16th June 2021 joined other participants in a 3 - day capacity workshop organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Asaba, Delta State.


International Organization for Migration (IOM), a UN Migration Agency that was established in 1951, is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners.


IOM works to help ensure the orderly and humane management of migration, to promote international cooperation on migration issues; to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems, and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced people.


The ongoing workshop is meant for Judges of the Superior Courts aimed at sensitizing and strengthening the capacity of the justice sector to address trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants in Edo and Delta States of Nigeria. 


The workshop was well attended by other judges from various jurisdictions especially the Federal and State High Courts, principal members of staff of the National Judicial Institute, and other functionaries of the government.


The workshop is expected to end on Friday 18th June 2021.
