[Speedy Justice Delivery] Bauchi, Gombe divisions get Presiding Judge

The Hon. President of the Court, His Lordship, Hon. Justice Benedict kanyip, PhD, FNIALS upon his swearing-in as the substantive President of the Industrial Court in December 2019 and during his tours to the Northern region saw the need to do everything possible for Gombe and Bauchi Judicial divisions to operate in full capacity to enhance the economic fortune of the region and to give succour to labour and industrial related disputes.


Thus, in fulfilment of the Hon. President's commitment to bring justice closer to the populace, one of the quintessential jurists, His Lordship, Hon. Justice Mustapha Tijjani has been deployed as the Presiding Judge of Bauchi and Gombe divisions in full-fledge capacity for speedy and efficient dispensation of justice.


Justice Kanyip maintained that the expansion of Industrial Court territory would further improve access to justice and promote better industrial harmony in the region and the nation at large.


His Lordship posited that the era of counsel and litigants travelling from Gombe and Bauchi States to neighbouring Plateau State for court sittings in pursuit of justice has now become a thing of the past.


Verily, It’s of utmost importance to stress that the National Industrial Court has exclusive jurisdiction in civil cases and matters relating to labour, employment, trade unions, industrial relations, national minimum wage, international best practices in labour and industrial matters, discrimination or sexual harassment at the workplace, application or interpretation of international labour standards, child labour, child abuse, human trafficking, interpretation and application of collective agreements, payment or non-payment of salaries, wages, personnel matters arising from any free trade zone in the federation, among others.
