Justice Gwandu was born on 15th December, in Sokoto, Sokoto State, her spouse state of origin. She hails from Kebbi State (Birnin Kebbi) Local Government Area. She is blessed with three children.
She attended the Capital School in Sokoto between 1973 and 1979 for her Primary School Education between 1979 and 1984, she attended Women Arabic Teachers College at Gusau and proceeded to Usman DanFodio University, Sokoto for her Bachelor degree in Law. After completion, she was called to Bar on the 10th day of December, 1991 after attending the Nigerian Law School at Lagos.
She started her National Youth Service Corp Scheme at the Ministry of Justice, Ogun State in 1991 but was redeployed to the Sokoto State Investment Company where she completed her service in 1992.
She started her career with the Sokoto State Ministry of Justice in 1992. She rose through the ranks to become Acting Deputy Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) between 1995 and 1997. Between 1997 and 1999, she was the Chief Adviser on Legal Matters at the Family Economic Advancement Programme, Abuja. She joined M-Tel in 1999 and also worked as Assistant Manager (Legal) with NITEL up to 2004 before she joined the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency as Legal Adviser.
Between 2010and May 2013, she was the Assistant Director (Administration) at the Nigerian Law Reform Commission, Abuja, from where she was appointed a Judge of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria. She is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, Abuja.
