The court has exclusive jurisdiction in civil causes and matters relating to or connected with any labour, employment, trade unions, industrial relations and matters arising from workplace, the conditions of service, including health, safety, welfare of labour, employee, worker and matter incidental thereto or connected therewith.


Hon. Justice A. N. Ubaka

Justice Ubaka was born on 20th November, 1962 at Ubulu-Uku in Aniocha South LGA of Delta State to the family of late John Okoh, father and Christiana Okoh,mother. She is married with children.

She attended St. Charles Primary School, Ubuku-Uku from 1986 to 1970 and St. James Primary School, Agbor, Delta State from 1971 to 1972 for FSLC. She was also at Baptist Girls High School, Agbor from 1972 to 1976 and St Louis College School, Mokola, Ibadan, Oyo State between 1976 and 1977 for WASC. She was admitted into the University of Ife, Ile-Ife in 1979 and graduated in 1984 with LLB. She was called to the bar in 1985.

Justice Ubaka performed her NYSC primary assignment with nonyem Ibeneme and Co, Lagos State in the 1985/86 service year. She started her working career as a Senior Counsel with Elokwu Etuka & Co law firm, Western House, Broad Street, Lagos where she practiced between 1988 and 1993 to 1995 she was Assistant Manage, Legal/Claims and Company Secretary at Prudential Insurance Company. Between 1995 and 1998 She was Manager (Admin/Operations at Greenfield Mortgage Finance Ltd. From 1998 to 2000 She was Manager Admin/Legal/Accounts at Terra Energy Services, Lagos. She established the law firm of A. N. Ubaka & Co. at No 17A Awori Street, Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos in year 2000 where She practiced till her judicial appointment. During this period (2000 up till her appointment) She combined Manpower Training and Consultancy Services with her law practice. She attended various Courses and Seminars on law, management and labour matters.
